{"id":919,"date":"2018-11-26T18:52:49","date_gmt":"2018-11-26T18:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egzomag.atomki.hu\/magfizikai-laboratorium\/"},"modified":"2024-03-31T20:14:09","modified_gmt":"2024-03-31T20:14:09","slug":"laboratory-of-nuclear-physics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/egzomag.atomki.hu\/en\/laboratory-of-nuclear-physics\/","title":{"rendered":"Laboratory of Nuclear Physics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>LABORATORY OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=&#8221;custom&#8221; style=&#8221;dotted&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; accent_color=&#8221;#22b573&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1522577565968{margin-top: -3% !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1711916005067{margin-top: -3% !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span style=\"color: #22b573;\">In the early years, the fundamental research field\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #22b573;\">of HUN-REN ATOMKI was nuclear physics, and it is still one of <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #22b573;\">the most successful topics in the institute<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/4&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;3\/4&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Besides the usage of the local accelerators at HUN-REN ATOMKI, the researchers of the institute have access to the infrastructure of the world-leading nuclear physics laboratories.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The scientists of the institute participated, among others, in the discovery of very deformed, so-called superdeformed nuclear shapes, in the investigation of phenomena related to the rotation of deformed nuclei and in the exploration of the special proton-neutron quartets appearing in nuclei with equal proton and neutron numbers.<\/p>\n<p>They performed research in international collaborations in order to uncover the evolution of the magic numbers far from <span class=\"s1\">the stability in light, neutron-rich<\/span> <span class=\"s2\">nuclei using radioactive ion beams,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">and to reveal the low-energy oscillations of the neutron skin.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2921&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the last years, a research group in the Laboratory of Nuclear Physics at HUN-REN ATOMKI <span class=\"s1\">found an anomaly by studying<\/span> the decay of highly excited states in <sup>8<\/sup>Be.
